Follow Hwy 14 up the South Fork of  the Clearwater River

Enjoy trout fishing in the South Fork of the Clearwater, Red River, Crooked River, Meadow Creek, American River, and back country lakes in Wilderness Areas. Take a day trip down to Salmon River and fish or swim. Unlimited outdoor hiking and camping. Just come and enjoy the forest. Enjoy ATV riding on designated trails and forest roads.  Hunting and winter snowmobiling are fall and winter activities.

Dixie is a good hour drive from Elk City, paved except for last 4 miles. Lodging and Food available.  In summer take a trip on further South to the Salmon River. Take a day trip on gold tour loop and explore some history. Wonderful winter time snowmobiling. Plan to stay in the area a few days to really take in the vast Nez Perce National Forest. Silver Spur Outfitters and Lodge now has snowmobile rentals available.
