Dixie Days (event schedule)

Dixie Ranger Station

On August 24, 1862, two prospectors found gold ore in a Gulch. They must have been from the South to name the place Dixie. The gold rush days have come and gone leaving just a few pages in history for this area. Today it is just a small community of a dozen or so. In summer the population grows with summer residents. Snowmobile events during the winter keep the community alive. It is part of the groomed trail system connecting all communities in the area. Dixie has lodging, food, gas and out fitting Services. Many hiking and cross-country skiing trails are marked for outdoor recreation year around.

I would appreciate some help with more information to put on this page about the Dixie area and if you have a picture you would like to put on I would be glad to do so.

Plenty of snow for snowmobiling from October to April and some years later.
Year around recreation and summer retreat from the heat. Hunting, fishing, hiking and snow sports will keep one relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors of the Nez Perce Forest.

Several businesses offer lodging and dinning in the area.  Also outfitter for guided trips winter and summer.
