Magruder Corridor TYPE OF ATTRACTION: Scenic Drive LOCATION: Near Elk City DESCRIPTION: This primitive road takes you along the Nez Perce trail between the Frank Church and Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness area. No services for 116.5 miles and a high-clearance vehicle is recommended. Be sure and check with the Ranger District to find out the condition of the road. You will travel from 3700 feet elevation to 8200 feet at the Magruder Crossing. Along the way are several historical markers and ranger stations. You can drive to the put-in for the Selway River on Paradise Road. If you are not in a rush there are some high country lakes that are a short walk and good fishing. GETTING THERE : From Elk City at the Red River Ranger Station, drive east on Forest Service Road #468. Plan for a long day trip or take two days and camp. You can return to Idaho through Salmon or through Lolo.
