Red River
Red River Ranger Station - . At this point you can continue to Dixie or Red RiverHot Springs. There are Areas along the road for viewing wild life in meadows along the Red River. The Red River Hot Springs is located another 11 miles from the Red River Ranger Station.
The Red River flows through a series of meadows that are designated wildlife viewing areas and game management property and then flows into the South Fork of the Clearwater. A very nice and scenic drive and great elk viewing in the spring These pictures of Red River were taken in October of 1997.
Red River Meadow Restoration Project
This demonstration project is designed as a model to restore the Lower Red River Meadow, using a holistic watershed approach, to a naturally functioning wet meadow ecosystem. The project purpose is to increase the quality and quantity of fish and wildlife habitat, improve water quality, and promote watershed and river restoration education.
